Tire Rotation & Alignment

A wheel alignment measures and adjusts all four wheels and tires to the correct specifications allowing for optimum performance, fuel economy, and braking efficiency. Wheels must be properly aligned to ensure all tires rotate in the same speed and direction. Even slight deviations of the geometry can affect the vehicle’s suspension. Driving a vehicle with poor suspension or alignment can affect braking, ride quality, fuel economy, and cause premature tire wear.

At Harris Automotive, our technicians when performing wheel alignment services will check the camber, caster, and toe of the vehicle’s alignment via an alignment machine. The machine measures the position of each wheel, the current alignment, and how it may be adjusted to meet suspension specifications determined by the vehicle’s manufacturer. FAQ Tire rotation & alignment

Is it easy to see when my tire pressure is low?

No. Tire pressure is tough to judge on sight alone. Tires can be well under 50% inflated before it’s noticeable to the eye. This is why it’s so important to check your tire pressure monthly with an accurate tire gauge. Try to do so in the morning before they’ve been driven on in order to get the most accurate reading.

How often should I rotate my tires?

Namely, for optimal tire maintenance, Harris Automotive recommends rotating your tires approximately every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. While this serves as a helpful guideline, consulting your vehicle's owner's manual is advised to obtain more specific information.

When should I replace my tires?

Consider getting new tires for your vehicle if the tread has worn down below the recommended depth of 2/32nds of an inch or if they're over six years old. You may also need replacement tires if you notice any changes in their performance. Trust Harris Automotive for all your tire needs.

How do I know if I need my tires aligned?

Look out for pulling to one side while driving, abnormal tire wear, and an off-center steering wheel even when your vehicle is pointed straight.

How do I get a professional opinion on my tires?
