Did you recently get a shiny, new car for Christmas? Good for you! Purchasing a new vehicle is something to be proud of, and it’s a big step to take. While you’re admiring your new car, don’t forget to start taking care of it right away! Just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s in perfect condition, or at least it won’t stay that way without a little bit of work! Here are ways to take care of it and how to keep it in great condition!
-Proper car care!
The first thing you will want to do after taking home your new car is to wash it! Get the buckets out and make sure to wash it yourself to get rid of any dust that may have been sitting on it. This will also give you an idea of where everything is on the outside of your vehicle and allow you to see any detailing that may need done. Regularly washing your car will help prevent rust from forming and will keep your car looking brand new!
-Get to know your vehicle
The next step to maintaining your new vehicle is to get to know it! Hopefully, you have a good idea already, but it will take some time to know where all the bells and whistles are! It will also take some time to get to know how it drives on the road! Check your new vehicle’s owner’s manual for the recommended time to take it in for an oil change and any other questions you may have about your specific vehicle.
-Be consistent
Once you know the condition of your car and where everything is, be consistent with your car maintenance. Create your own monthly car maintenance checklist like this one:
-Oil change (Keep track of your car mileage to know when!)
-Tire rotation
-Brake check
-Light check
Visit us at Harris Automotive, or your local auto repair shop, for all of the things above! We do a full service repair if you would like!
-Pay attention to signs
Don’t ignore signs like your brake engine light or a light coming on that you’re not sure of! Check your car owner’s manual for help or visit your local auto care shop for help! If you smell or feel anything’s wrong with your vehicle, it’s best to take it in right away. This will save your vehicle and save you money down the road!
-Take it regularly to your local automotive shop!
There is nothing like having professional help with your vehicle! Let a team of professional car mechanics look over your vehicle regularly for things like an oil change, tire rotation, and any other vehicle maintenance you may need. First, find a friend you can trust and ask them for a local automotive shop referral! This is the best way to find a place you can rely on and that has a good history with people you know!
